I absolutely LOVE an eyeshadow pallet and my collection seems to be getting bigger and bigger, much to my mums disgust (I don’t live at home so I think its acceptable to take up as much room as I like with as much makeup that will fit!). I have become a little obsessed with the Makeup Revolution Iconic eyeshadow pallets recently! And I have the Urban Decay NAKED 3 pallet which is also pretty great. So I thought I’d take this opportunity to compare the 2 brands and explain what I love about each one!
I always wanted the NAKED 2 pallet but the year I tried to get it, it had sold out everywhere! So instead I went for the NAKED 3 pallet. The eyeshadow colours in the NAKED 3 are more on the pink side which is not what I’d usually go for (I’m more of a browns/smokey kinda girl). This pallet did open me up to trying new colours and I do have to say that I love them, especially for spring and summer they are perfect. I always wear the Urban Decay Eden eyeshadow primer potion under all my eyeshadow as it is a great base (featured in my 5 makeup must have post here) but this pallet doesn’t really need any help! The pigment is incredible and they shadows blend so well. I’ve had this pallet quite a while now as like I said they are more seasonal colours but it is a pallet that I always go back to. The NAKED pallets retail at £39.50, so they aren’t they cheapest option but they last ages and are great quality.
I discovered Makeup Revolution when my blogger friend Abi – Ramblings of a Blonde featured it in her blog (see post here). When I saw the price I was shocked and thought that the shadows couldn’t possibly be any good. Oh how I was wrong! I quickly went out and purchased the Iconic 2 pallet as I needed to see for myself what they were like! I have to say I was totally impressed! Not only are they an amazing dupes of the Urban Decay NAKED pallets, they are great eyeshadows! I have never tired them without a primer so I can’t comment on the longevity of them on their own but the wear time with a primer is great, I see no difference in wear with this to the NAKED pallet. I now have the Iconic 1, Iconic 2 and the Iconic Smokey pallets and find myself reaching for these most days! The pigment of the shadows are great, some do need a bit of building but all in all they are very good for the £4 price mark! The only criticism I have is with the darker shades in the Smokey pallet as they are a little harder to blend but if you take your time it does get there and still looks lovely. I really can’t recommend them enough!
So when it comes down to it, what brand do I recommend the most? I’d have to say Makeup Revolution! Yes the packaging isn’t as nice as the NAKED pallets and yes some of the shadows do need building a little more BUT for £4 I really don’t think there’s even an argument here! I know that I can replace the MUR Iconic pallets when ever I need to where the Urban Decay NAKED pallets are more pricey so I don’t reach for it as much as I don’t want to replace it! Call me a cheap skate but I’m all about a bargain and when it’s this good in quality I think it’s a winner! Do you agree? I’d love to know your thoughts on both brands!
