Turning 30!

On Thursday 5th July I turned 30! I know for many people this is a scary thought and not something people look forward too. However I was super excited!! I’m exactly where I want to be in life and the last few months have brought everything together nicely! I thought I’d share with you a few things that have been going on in the last few weeks that have got me set for turning the big 3 0!

The Man

Okay so this hasn’t happened in the last few weeks, we have been together for 3 and a half years but he is the biggest reason I am who I am today and why I am so ready to turn 30 and embrace the amazing future we have together!

We met at work, I took his job 5 years ago but a year later he walked back in to the office and from that moment on, my life changed incredibly! I had been in a shitty relationship where I was made to feel like I wasn’t good enough, I couldn’t be me. This all changed so quickly, I finally knew what happiness was and what real love felt like. I knew he was the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with!

Enough of the gushy stuff!! But I am the woman I am because I have a great man supporting me in everything I do and I’m so great full for that.

The House

I briefly told you guys about the move in my blog post I’m Back, Let’s Catch Up so I wont go in to a huge lot of detail. Back before Christmas we had started to talk about buying a house and looked at a couple of areas that we liked. That’s as far as it went for a few months until I received a text to say a 2 bed plot had become available in the area that we had fallen in love with. From that moment everything moved super quick, we reserved the house and within 6 weeks we were moved in! We were very lucky as everything went smoothly and was surprisingly stress-free!

I absolutely LOVE our house, it’s everything I have ever dreamed about and thought that’s where it would stay…in my dreams! We are in a new build, it’s bright, modern but very cosy and homely. You can see the theme we when for through out in my blog post My New House: The Look Book. I am hoping to do a house tour post soon so you can see what we have created so far!

The Engagement

So it was less of an engagement and more of a ceremony. We arranged our Islamic wedding where both mine and my partners family and a handful of our friends came together and celebrated our day. We had a small, intimate ceremony at the local mosque and from there we went to a local restaurant where we had some amazing food! As the Nikkah (wedding) is not a recognised, legal UK wedding we are treating this as our engagement and we are planning on having our English wedding early next year! I have to most beautiful engagement ring which is my partners mums original engagement ring.

I am ready to get in to full wedding planning mode now! I have an idea of the theme, dress and style of wedding I want, I just need to bring all the ideas together! I’m so excited and feel very lucky that I get to celebrate our love and essentially get married twice!!

So with in the last 8 weeks we have moved into our very first home together, we got engaged and I turned 30! It’s absolutely crazy and I still feel like it all hasn’t quite sunk in properly! I’m so ready to embrace being 30 and and very excited what my 30’s will bring. I couldn’t be in a happier place right now so I just had to share it all with you!

I’m like you– I’m thrilled about turning 30 (in just three days!). I think this next decade is going to be one heck of an adventure 🙂
